FOLEY
I’ve been fortunate to produce an independent film, and during my time wearing many hats on LWA – All Saints Eve, I discovered a true love for Foley work. Foley is the art of adding or replacing sound effects—everything from creaking floors to distant gunfire or the whisper of wind. Later, I was brought in to shoot some drone footage for Potter’s Ground, along with select clips for the FX team to work their magic. I offered to help with ADR and Foley, and it turned out to be one of the most rewarding parts of the process.
Now, I wouldn’t call myself a traditional Foley artist—the kind who can turn a single sheet of paper into ten different sounds. My approach was more digital. I’d spend hours digging through libraries of pre-recorded effects, layering and blending just the right ones to breathe life into a scene. A wooden chair rocking beside a crackling fire. A knock at the door, the handle jiggles, the door opens—outside ambiance spills in. Heavy boots echo on the floorboards, and the rocking stops. Every sound matters. Every detail paints the picture you don’t see but feel. Here is my IMDB page with a handful of Foley credits among others.
