Dieter’s ability to so artfully create a new subgenre (“romantic ambient/electronic new age”) is hardly surprising considering some of the wildly imaginative works he’s produced over the past few years.

To Donna, For Donna
I’m the luckiest person on the planet. I try, I learn. Not every decision has been perfect, but looking back, trusting my gut has always paid off when it mattered most. This November, I get to celebrate my 25th wedding anniversary—and that is both exciting and amazing. Exciting, because I get to share my life with the one who was truly made for me in every way. Amazing, because we’ve far surpassed the odds in this category.
As I thought about what to do for Donna, I realized something: I’ve never written songs entirely from scratch for her. Over the years, a few pieces became “hers,” but they always started with ideas that existed before. This time is different. This time, every note, every chord, every rhythm is born from the life we’ve shared together.
I am so proud of this album. It’s my best work because it’s infused with the wealth of feelings and memories only she and I share. So, this is for the love of my life, the better half of me, my soulmate—Donna.
This is my 9th Album. All Song written and performed by Dieter Spears. Violin Midi Edits Christopher Caouette, Im just saying he played Violins 🙂
01. Eternal Trust
Looking back over 25+ years together, I think of all the moments where I was reminded of Donna’s unwavering love. The times apart, the difficult decisions we faced—good or bad—all carried by the trust we have in one another. That’s the foundation: Eternal Trust.
Not everyone gets this in a relationship, and I don’t take it for granted. Sometimes a chord change can give me the same rush as realizing, again, that she is the one—the only one. A rhythm can transport me to a memory as simple as us curled up on the couch watching a movie.
I was also inspired by Wayfarer Artists Byron Metcalf and Ari Urban’s Ritual of Passion, where Ari’s violin weaves so beautifully with Byron’s rhythms. That mood opened a new door for me, and I wanted to capture some of that feeling here.
02. Love’s Embrace
Life gives us ups and downs, triumphs and struggles. What matters is having that one person who knows you—really knows you—and can hold you steady when you need it most.
For me, that moment came after gallbladder surgery, when the pain was unbearable. Donna slept on the floor beside our bed, just so she wouldn’t disturb me. That is love’s embrace—pure, selfless, and unforgettable.
03. Dum and Dummer (Our Theme Song)
Whenever we meet people, we introduce ourselves as Dieter and Donna, D & D—or “Dum and Dummer.” It always gets a laugh, and it’s become part of who we are together.
This playful tune feels like our theme song. Wayfarer Artist Jaffe and I once joked about making an ambient album using kazoos and slide whistles—so of course, I had to sneak one of those in here for fun.
04. Our Universe
One date night, we went to see Passengers with Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence. The soundtrack by Thomas Newman elevated the movie into something memorable. Somehow, that night became one of “those” nights—the ones you carry with you.
This track is my tribute to that evening, to Thomas Newman’s brilliance, and to the way music can become a permanent part of your personal universe.
05. Gitty Times
I’m an observer of people, but no one fascinates me more than Donna. This tune is inspired by the joy I feel watching her in our everyday world—even in the simplest moments. A smile here, a glance there—it’s happiness multiplied.
06. Sunday Brunch
Life is structured around the grind: five days of work, two to recover. But every so often, you get that perfect Sunday, where the world fades away and it’s just the two of you, sharing a day with no agenda. This track is for those days.
07. She’s My Everything
As creatives, we know how deeply passion, beauty, and pain can move us. This song captures how I feel about Donna in music form. The violin, beautifully performed by Wayfarer Artist Christopher Caouette, brings out the elegance and calm that define her. She is, without question, my everything.
08. Zenconicity
Inspired by the brilliance of Wayfarer Artists Andrew Schoen and Inner Stellar Date Unit, I wanted to see if I could create something in their synth-driven style. The first half of this track is my attempt.
But it also reflects relationships: not every day is perfectly in sync, but with patience, love, and effort, you find your harmony again—and soar.
09. Twenty Five
This track is pure energy. A reflection of the whirlwind life we’ve shared for 25+ years—fast, full, and unforgettable.
09. Watching Her Dance
I’ve been fortunate to live a life full of adventures—scuba diving, racing cars, even flying in a police helicopter during a chase. But the most priceless experience is being on stage, playing music, and seeing Donna in the crowd.
Whether she’s smiling at me, pointing out the funny dancers, or jumping on a table to dance herself—those moments are magic. Musicians will understand this one completely.
10. Pure Love
At the heart of it all, this album comes down to one thing: Pure Love. A steady rhythm that soothes the soul and reminds me every day why I am the luckiest person alive.
Thank you for taking the time to listen. This album isn’t just music—it’s the soundtrack of my life with Donna.
